Wellllll …. kind of. Many, many horror movies over the years have claimed to have been based on actual events, ripped bleeding from the headlines, but on closer examination, these claims usually turn out to be a little — shall we say, exaggerated?

  1. Here’s the university that named their cafeteria after Alfred Packer (yes, I thought it was hilarious too). Looks like they’ve embraced the wrongness of it: http://www.colorado.edu/umc/dining/alferd-packer

I was on murderpedia a few days ago. Sadly the murderer I was looking for wasn’t on there, I guess they weren’t high-profile enough or something. Maybe they need local correspondents to check websites and newspapers for appropriate articles, like the Fortean Times.

Speaking of Forteana, I know there are films of the Rendlesham Forest incident (The Rendlesham UFO Incident) and the Dyatlov Pass incident (same name), but I’ve not seen either myself.

An American Haunting is based on the Bell Witch haunting/legend – or more specifically, the book written about it by Brent Monahan (which in itself people are unsure if it’s fact or fiction). I enjoyed the book a lot but found the film kind of blah. It’s a shame because I do love a good period horror/ghost story.

I’m sorry to hear about your divorce Jen (if sorry is the right word, probably not as you wouldn’t be divorcing if there weren’t good reasons so perhaps I should be glad instead), but I am very grateful for your podcast for my own reasons and thank you both so much for fighting real life to bring it to us.

  2. Thank you so much. It’s been hard but worthwhile. Fighting for your happiness is always worth doing 🙂

    Jennifer
